Children's Privacy Notice
Effective Date: May 18, 2026
This Children's Privacy Notice supplements our Privacy Policy and explains how Nyro Dynamics Ltd ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects personal information from children through the Nyro Quest mobile application ("App"). It applies to Family Mode child profiles. It does not apply to Self-Learner Mode, where the learner manages their own account.
We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), applicable Canadian privacy legislation, and child-privacy principles used in other regions where the App is made available. Local laws may define a child or required consent age differently; where parental or legal guardian consent is required, the Parent or legal guardian must manage the Child's use of the App.
Key point: Nyro Quest is parent-directed in Family Mode. Children cannot create accounts, initiate AI requests, upload media, make purchases, or communicate with other users. All Child profiles are created and managed by a Parent or legal guardian who has consented to this notice.
1. How We Obtain Parental Consent
Before any Child data is collected, we require the following:
- A Parent or legal guardian must create an adult account using an email address they provide. Email verification is not required at signup, but we may request email verification for account security, account recovery, abuse prevention, or access to certain features.
- During registration, the Parent must explicitly agree to our Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and this Children's Privacy Notice by checking a consent box.
- The Parent then creates the Child's profile, at which point data collection for that Child begins.
- We record the date, time, account type, and policy versions accepted.
A Child cannot access the App without a Parent having first completed this consent process.
2. Information We Collect from Children
When a Parent creates a Child profile and the Child uses the App, we collect:
- Profile information (provided by the Parent): First name or nickname, year of birth (optional), avatar selection
- Authentication: A PIN code set by the Parent (stored on our servers as a bcrypt hash only; the Parent app may keep a device-local copy on the phone or tablet where the PIN was set so the Parent can view it later — not synced to our servers)
- Learning activity: Which lessons and slides the Child has viewed, quiz questions and answers, quest progress and completion status
- Achievement data: XP points earned, streak days, level progression
- Session data: When the Child opens the App, how long they use it, and what activities they complete during a session
3. Information We Do NOT Collect from Children
- We do not collect email addresses from Children
- We do not collect photos, videos, audio, PDFs, worksheet uploads, AI prompts, or voice briefs from Children
- We do not collect precise geolocation data
- We do not allow Children to initiate AI requests
- We do not allow Children to make purchases
- We do not allow Children to communicate with other users
- We do not display advertising to Children
4. How We Use Children's Information
Children's information is used solely to:
- Provide the learning experience (lessons, quizzes, quests)
- Track and display progress to the Child and their Parent
- Calculate XP, streaks, and levels
- Allow Parents to verify learning through the quest verification system
- Create a parent-requested Nyro AI Learning Coach summary when the Parent explicitly asks for one and agrees to send the relevant learning evidence to OpenAI
- Send in-app notifications about quest status (visible only to the Child and their Parent)
5. Who Can See Children's Information
- The Child themselves (their own progress, XP, quests)
- The Parent who created the Child's profile (full progress, quiz answers, session history)
- Nyro Dynamics staff, only as needed for technical support or legal compliance
We do not share Children's information with third parties for marketing, advertising, or any commercial purpose.
AI features (OpenAI): The "Build with AI" mission-generation features in the App can only be initiated by the Parent (or a Self-Learner account on the device). Children cannot start an AI request from a Child profile. Parents review AI-generated missions before assigning them to Children. When a Parent taps "Ask Nyro AI Coach" during quest verification and agrees to the in-app disclosure, we send the minimum learning evidence needed for that parent-only summary to OpenAI, such as quest details, progress signals, quiz question text, first selected answers, correct answers, game outcomes, and effort stats. We do not send account credentials, payment information, store receipts, push tokens, PIN hashes, login codes, or biometric information to OpenAI. See our Privacy Policy for full details on AI data sharing initiated by adult accounts.
6. Parental Rights
As a Parent, you have the right to:
- Review your Child's personal information at any time through the App (Child Progress screen) or by contacting us
- Delete your Child's profile and all associated data through the App or by contacting us
- Refuse further collection by deleting the Child's profile, which immediately stops all data collection for that Child
- Withdraw consent at any time by deleting the Child's profile or your Parent account
7. Data Retention and Deletion
Children's data is retained only while the Child's profile is active, unless a limited record must be retained for security, legal, billing, fraud-prevention, or app-store reconciliation purposes. When a Parent deletes a Child's profile:
- All of the Child's personal information, learning progress, quiz answers, and session data is permanently deleted
- Deletion occurs within 30 days of the request
If a Parent account is deleted, all associated Child profiles and their data are also permanently deleted.
8. Global Children's Privacy
Because child-privacy rules differ by country, Parents are responsible for confirming that they are authorized to create and manage the Child profile. Where local law gives Children or Parents additional rights, such as access, correction, deletion, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent, or complaint rights, we will honor those rights as described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Security
We protect Children's data with the same security measures described in our Privacy Policy, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS), hashed credentials (bcrypt), and secure server storage.
